ArticlesHide profanity and harmful content from open feedback

15.4.2026Knowledge

By default, only Admins can see open feedback categorized as Spam, Profanity, or Harmful in the Open feedback widget.

With profanity, you can choose to either hide the entire feedback item, or have HappyOrNot's Feedback Guard AI rewrite or mask the profanity. In open feedback categorized as relevant, the text is rewritten to remove the profanity while maintaining the original intent and tone of the feedback. In low-quality feedback, profanity will be masked with asterisks.

To select if you want to view or hide feedback containing profanity in the Open feedback widget, go to My profile > Account settings > Feedback Guard.

If you have Admin rights, you can manage which users are allowed to turn off the filtering so they can see this kind of open feedback.

  1. Go to Admin > Users and click the name of the person whose access you want to edit.
  2. Under Data Access, select Edit.
  3. Under Feedback Guard restrictions, you can select if the user is allowed to see open feedback containing profanity, spam, or harmful content in Analytics or email reports.
